1. Scope and provider
This policy is provided by the PinSee developer and covers the PinSee browser extension and this informational website. It describes the current information practices for extension version 0.1.0.
PinSee displays Pinterest card statistics and media information, and lets you choose to view original images, download originals, save selected image batches, and download individual MP4 videos. It is an independent tool, unaffiliated with and not endorsed by Pinterest, Inc.
The essentials: the current extension has no developer backend, account system, advertising, or analytics service. It does not upload browsing content to a developer server. To provide its features, it processes webpage data in your browser and makes necessary requests directly to Pinterest for details and media.
2. Information processed
- Pinterest page and media information: relevant Pin IDs, likes, saves, total comment counts, created dates, media types, original image dimensions, and original image and MP4 URLs. Playback dimensions come from the page’s native video player.
- Your choices and settings: the extension switch, metric switches, hover preferences, language, and the images you actively select.
- Batch download information: tab ID, batch ID, creation time, folder name, selected Pin IDs, validated original image information, browser download IDs, download states, and error types.
- Browser download records: records are queried to check completion and recover extension downloads. During recovery, recent records after a batch’s creation may be queried temporarily, then matched by extension ID, file path, and media URL. Unrelated download records are not retained.
The extension temporarily parses embedded Pinterest data and relevant responses. It does not retain raw page responses, comment text, commenter profiles, or Pinterest account profiles. It does not actively read, export, or store passwords or cookies, or build a cross-site browsing history.
3. Purposes and permissions
Information is used only to provide the current features: displaying and completing card data, applying settings, handling explicit media actions, naming download files and folders, and verifying or recovering download progress.
| Permission or access | Purpose |
|---|---|
storage | Save display and language settings locally, and keep batch records for the browser session. |
downloads | Start image or MP4 downloads you request, check completion, and reveal downloaded files in the file manager. |
| Pinterest page access | Read relevant page data, request missing details, and display card overlays only on the Pinterest domains declared by the extension. |
Selecting an image does not start a download. A view or download action runs only after you activate its control. The extension does not automatically scroll through or scrape an entire board.
4. Storage and retention
| Information | Storage and retention |
|---|---|
| Display and language settings | Stored in the extension’s storage.local until changed, cleared, or removed when you uninstall the extension. |
| Card and media information | Mainly held in bounded, per-tab memory caches. Entries are removed through eviction, page reload, or tab closure. Playback dimensions are not written to disk. |
| Download batches | Kept in storage.session, with up to 8 tab batches and 1,500 Pins per batch. Closing the associated tab removes its batch. Records may also be replaced by new batches or evicted at capacity, and are cleared when the browser session ends. |
| Downloaded files and history | Managed by your browser and operating system. Ending the extension session or uninstalling it does not automatically delete saved files or browser download history. |
5. Network requests and third parties
The extension reuses current page data first. If required information is missing, it requests a Pin detail page directly from the current Pinterest domain. Requests use the browser’s existing same-origin sign-in session and may automatically include that site’s cookies. The extension does not read or export cookie values.
When you view or download media, the browser connects directly to Pinterest’s image or video CDN, such as i.pinimg.com, v.pinimg.com, and the relevant video subdomains. These services receive your IP address, requested resource, and ordinary request information as part of normal network operation, and may process it under their own policies.
The current implementation does not send this data to a developer server, sell or rent it, use it for advertising, profiling, or credit assessment, or integrate analytics SDKs. Information you actively submit through a support channel is handled by the email or platform service you use and is used to respond to and investigate your request.
Limited Use: PinSee’s use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide the features described in this policy. It is not sold or used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or unrelated purposes.
6. Your choices and deletion
- Turn off PinSee in the popup to remove overlays and stop related detail requests. Downloads already started remain managed by the browser.
- Change metric and language settings to control display and subsequent data requests. Disabled metrics do not trigger detail requests on their own.
- Exit image selection, stop upcoming tasks, or close the associated tab to stop batch files that have not started. An active file may continue downloading.
- Reload or close a Pinterest tab to clear its in-memory data. End the browser session to clear temporary batch records.
- Use your browser’s extension storage controls or uninstall the extension to remove saved settings. Delete downloaded files and download history separately using the file manager and browser.
7. This website and security
This website currently provides static product, help, and privacy information. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising scripts, and has no online submission form. The interactive demo does not connect to Pinterest or retain your demo choices. This website is available in English and does not store language preferences.
The website’s hosting service may process basic access logs, including IP addresses, request times, page paths, and browser information, to deliver pages and maintain security. Actual processing and retention depend on the hosting configuration. This is separate from the extension uploading Pinterest browsing content.
The extension uses HTTPS for Pinterest detail and media requests and validates cross-context messages and media URLs. Access controls for your device, browser download records, and local files remain the responsibility of your browser and operating system.
8. Updates and contact
When features or information practices change, we will update this page and its effective date, and update store disclosures or provide additional notices where needed.
